Vocations

Knights of Columbus & Vocations

At the Knights of Columbus, we believe that one of our most sacred missions is to support and foster vocations to the priesthood and religious life. Through prayer, financial backing, and fraternal encouragement, we stand shoulder to shoulder with seminarians and those discerning their call.

Why Vocations Matter to Us

  • Building the future of the Church. The Church depends on men and women who hear God’s call. By supporting vocations, we help ensure a vibrant, faith-filled future for our parish and our community.
  • Living our mission. As Knights, we commit ourselves to a life of service. Encouraging religious vocations is a powerful way to serve Christ and His Church.
  • Strength through prayer. None of us can do this alone. Through prayer and brotherhood, we support the seminarians who will one day lead, teach, and shepherd.

Our Partnership with Sacred Heart Major Seminary

Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit is a cornerstone of our vocations outreach. As a cornerstone of priestly formation in our region, Sacred Heart provides rigorous theological, spiritual, and pastoral training for future priests. The Knights of Columbus support the seminary through:

  1. Financial Contributions
  • We help fund tuition, books, and living expenses for seminarians.
  • Our fundraising efforts ensure the seminary can continue its mission without financial obstacles.

2. Spiritual Support

  • Knights commit to daily or weekly prayer for seminarians and those discerning their vocation.
  • We host prayer nights, rosaries, and Masses specifically for vocations, embracing Sacred Heart’s formation community.

3. Fraternal Encouragement

  • We invite seminarians to be part of our brotherhood — attending our monthly meetings, retreats, and events.
  • As Knights, we mentor, encourage, and walk with seminarians through their formation journey.

How You Can Help

  • Pray — Join us in praying for seminarians, that they may hear and follow God’s call with courage and joy.
  • Donate — Your generosity fuels scholarships, housing, and the needs of future priests.
  • Invite — Know someone discerning a religious vocation? Encourage them to connect with our Council and Sacred Heart Major Seminary.
  • Volunteer — Help organize Knights-led prayer events, vocation awareness programs, or fundraising campaigns in support of the seminary.

By investing in vocations, the Knights of Columbus isn’t just supporting individual seminarians — we’re building up the Church, renewing our communities, and doing our part to bring Christ’s presence into the world.

Will you join us?

The Knights at St Clement are proud to sponsor four seminarians at Sacred Heart and novices with The Shrine of Jesus of the The Dive Mercy.  Please add your prayers to ours for the successful completion of their very important mission.

These are the fine young men we are supporting this year at Sacred Heart.  Please pray for their discernment and calling.

Vocations 2020

Starting in 2019, we expanded out sponsorship of vocations to include 2 IHM novices.  Again in 2020, we will continue to contribute to both Jane and Audra.

Below are Jane Aselyyne and Audra Trumball.  Audra professed first vows in August 2019.  She’s now temporary professed.  Jane is a second-year novice.
